Elco Décor dates back to 1978 when its founder Mr. Elias Sahyoun negotiated exclusive rights of distribution for the Balta Group. Success of the parleying spurred the birth of an institution that is to represent the above mentioned company for Lebanon.

In 1981, insight was widened to represent ITC in Lebanon for floorcoverings and Forbo Lancaster of England for wall coverings. PVCVinyl was imported from Target Pegular of Germany and the products of Shaw Industries of the U.S, a leader in the flooring sector, were shipped in collaboration with another company.

  • Cushioned Vinyl

One of the most popular types of cushioned flooring is cushioned vinyl flooring. Many flooring manufacturers are now offering quality cushioned vinyl flooring in a range of styles and colours. Not only do they provide extra comfort but they also offer all the traditional vinyl advantages, such as a durable surface that is easy to clean and maintain and is stain-resistant and waterproof. Remember that cushioned vinyl can only be installed over hard, solid surfaces, such as tiles.

  • Laminate flooring

Are reasonably easy for a DIY homeowner to install. Laminate flooring is packaged as a number of tongue and groove planks - these can be clicked into one another. Sometimes a glue backing is provided for ease of installation. Installed laminate floors typically "float" over the sub-floor on top of a foam/film underlayment, which provides moisture- and sound-reducing properties. A small (1-10mm) gap is required between the flooring and any immovable object such as walls, this allows the flooring to expand without being obstructed. Baseboards (skirting boards) can be removed and then reinstalled after laying of the flooring is complete for a neater finish, or small beading trims can be fitted to the baseboards (skirting boards). Saw cuts on the planks are usually required at edges, and around cupboard and door entrances.

  • Wall to Wall Carpets

Wall to wall carpets or fitted carpeting, is a carpet intended to cover a floor entirely. Wall to wall carpets offer comfort and some soundproofing, originally woven to the dimensions of the specific area they were covering.

  • Venetian Blinds

A Venetian blind has horizontal slats, one above another. Venetian blinds are basic slatted blinds made of metal or wooden slats. They are suspended by strips of cloth called tapes, or by cords, by which all slats in unison can be rotated through nearly 180 degrees. The slats can be rotated such that they overlap with one side facing inward and then in the opposite direction such that they overlap with the other side facing inward. Between those extremes, various degrees of separation may be effected between the slats by varying the rotation. There are also lift cords passing through slots in each slat. When these cords are pulled, the bottom of the blind moves upward causing the lowest slats to press the underside of the next highest slat as the blind is raised. A modern variation of the lift cords combines them with the rotational cords in slots on the two edges of each slat. This avoids the slots otherwise required to allow a slat to rotate despite a lift cord passing through it, thus decreasing the amount of light passing through a closed blind. Slat width is 25 mm being a common width.

  • Vertical Blinds

Are less likely to collect dust due to the fact that they stand vertically. Since they draw to the side versus lifting and lowering they operate better on doors and windows that also slide from side to side. Generally they require less muscle strength, and are faster to operate. Vertical blinds are available in flat plastic (PVC), fabric, embossed pvc, faux wood materials, metal, wood and also s-curved slats. Stationary vertical blinds are hung in the doorways of some homes and businesses which generally leave the door open. Movement of the blind may signal a change in air flow, or someone entering the doorway. More commonly however, these vertical blinds are made of thick plastic. In the cold rooms of food businesses, this slows the heat leakage into the cold room. In warmer climates, vertical blinds discourage flies and some other insects from entering the building.
